Worship Music and Church Life Associate

Corpus Christi Anglican Church (CCAC) in Alexandria, Virginia, combines a unique blend of highly reverential, ceremonial, and  liturgical worship with blended musical styles. We sing a combination of ancient and modern hymnody, modern  worship songs, and chant. Corporate worship at CCAC conforms to the liturgical forms contained in the  Anglican Church in North America’s (ACNA) 2019 Book of Common Prayer (BCP). Our worship is historic,  filled with Scripture, and ultimately aimed at exalting our Triune God and transforming people into the image of  Christ.  

The Worship Music and Church Life Associate (WMCLA) position is a part-time position (10-30 hours per week) with CCAC. This position carries an annual salary of between $15,000–30,000 based upon relevant experience. 

Successful candidates for this position will share and promote CCAC’s values, including maintaining healthy  spiritual, physical, and emotional habits; trusting one another; engaging in honest conflict around ideas; committing to group decisions; holding oneself and others accountable for group action plans; and focusing on  the collective results of the team. 

Key Responsibilities & Duties 

1. Maintain and grow the Sunday morning musical experience. 

• Lead music every Sunday and other holy days (e.g., Holy Week, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday). Leading  music includes the following duties: 

• Plan the service set list. 

• Practice during the week. 

• Print the songbook for the musicians. 

• Add the songs both to Planning Center Online (PCO) and Keynote. 

• Arrive early on Sundays to practice. 

• Set up the audio/visual (A/V) equipment for the Sunday service. 

• Train, coach, and disciple new volunteer leaders. 

• Integrate the children’s musical experience with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) and the Sunday  service. 

2. Attend requisite meetings. 

• Attend the weekly staff call. 

• Attend the monthly staff Compline. 

3. Recruit, develop, and train musicians and A/V technicians. 

• Oversee A/V equipment setup and teardown on Sunday mornings. 

• Increase participation through a monthly musical event using the BCP.

• Create supporting documents to train other musical leaders. 

4. Learn and teach others about Anglican music. 

• Increase the use of liturgical music in the Sunday service. 

• Increase the use Anglican hymnody in the Sunday service. 

• Update the CCAC Spotify playlist. 

5. Provide administrative support. 

• Schedule musicians in PCO. 

• Build out monthly service templates under the direction of the vicar. 

• Post sermon audio to website and social media. 

• Track and report Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) information. 

6. Carry out such other duties as may be reasonably assigned to you. 

Prerequisites 

1. Candidate must be a committed and baptized follower of Jesus Christ. He or she is committed to living by the  teachings and commandments of Scripture, participating regularly in the Eucharist, and maintaining an active  devotional life. While being a confirmed Anglican is not required for this position, the ideal candidate would be  open to pursuing confirmation/reception in the ACNA and membership at CCAC. 

2. Candidate must support, communicate, and live the vision, mission, and values of this church. 3. Candidate must follow all of CCAC’s child safety policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, completing  a criminal background check and approved child safety training. The safety training and background check must be  current and completed before beginning employment. 

4. Candidate must be flexible and adaptable because of the nature of church planting. 

5. Candidate must be open and willing to learn and research Anglican liturgical music. 

6. Candidate must be committed to faithfully stewarding the church through its day-to-day challenges (e.g., theology,  the care of souls, leading teams, and other tasks). 

7. Candidate must be able to cultivate healthy relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries, communicating  clear expectations, and remaining fixed on CCAC’s mission. 

Recommendations 

1. Preference will be given to candidates who can read music. It is not required to read music, but the ideal candidate  will have some training and familiarity with music theory. 

2. Preference will be given to candidates who can lead music using either a piano or guitar.
