CEEP Seminar: Ambassadors of Reconciliation
Elisabeth Rain Kincaid, Assistant Professor of Ethics and Moral Theology at Nashotah House will be the moderator for a Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP Network) panel discussion, focusing on the topic: Ambassadors of Reconciliation: The Hard Work of Repairing Our Social Compact. Christians are called to be a witness against violence and seek the peace. What does this look like? How can Christians work to reconcile justice and love? What lessons should the church have learned over the last several years?
Join us for an insightful conversation into being ambassadors of reconciliation and using love as a primary tool.

Description:
Last year was filled with division. The world suffered from a pandemic unlike any seen in over a century - leading to death, loss, and economic despair. Our nation, already suffering from long-standing and deep-seated societal division, saw its political culture devolve into greater acrimony and filled with bitter recrimination across the political spectrum. Looking from the outside, the problems appear intractable.
And, yet, as Christians, we know that isn’t the case. We know that reconciliation is possible and as St. Paul reminds us in scripture we can employ love to improve our commonweal.
Bringing St. Paul’s instruction into this moment, in a recent sermon to the nation, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry reminded the nation in a recent sermon that 'love is the value upon which democracy depends.’ So, in these divided times, how do we bring love to bear to heal our ills and strengthen our democracy.
In this workshop, theologians and church leaders reflect upon how Christians can use love in our work as ambassadors of reconciliation. What challenges should we anticipate as Christians and citizens as our country attempts to move forward under new political leadership? What new opportunities may arise to be witnesses to the redemptive healing power and love of Jesus Christ?
