The Rev. R. Michael Darrow (‘62), 1937-2021

The Rev. R. Michael Darrow (’62) died September 20, 2021. He was born on May 22, 1937, to Alice M. (Chrisman) and Robert Irving Darrow Jr. in Denver, Colorado. He attended South High School; Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts; the University of Denver; and Nashotah House. Fr. Darrow served as a board member of Nashotah House and supported the House for many years.

He was rector of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Littleton, Colorado, from 1968 to 1979 and St. James Episcopal Church in West Bend, Wisconsin, from 1980 to 1999, when he retired. Fr. Darrow was a Trustee for the College of Preachers at the Washington National Cathedral from 1992 to 1998 and led numerous diocesan and national committees.

He was responsible for multiple building projects and had a strong commitment to Christian Education and outreach, including a program that served lunch to 100 people a week and a “Mother Room” that provided clothing and supplies to new mothers and infants. Fr. Darrow loved traveling and visited over 20 countries during his life. He loved trains and traveling by train, the organ, classical music, and his beloved dogs. Fr. Darrow is survived by his sister Patricia Fraser.
