Against Self-Promotion

Humility is a key virtue, according to Christian tradition. The Rule of Saint Benedict famously mentions the angels descending and ascending on Jacob’s ladder, and explains allegorically, “Doubtless, we should understand this descent and ascent as follows: one descends by pride and ascends by humility.”
The Street Priest
In 1959, a recent graduate of Nashotah House arrived in Orlando, Florida. His name was Fr. Nelson Pinder, a newly ordained priest who would serve the Orlando community for more than 60 years.

As Christians we are the body of Christ, we are the answer to this prayer. With courage, compassion and a steadfast faith, let us tend the sick, give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous, all for Christ’s sake.
